Photo: man killed, son injured over rumours 'they ate beef'

50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was beaten to death and his 22-year-old son severely injured on Monday night in UP’s Dadri, allegedly by residents of Bisara village, around 45 km from Delhi, after rumours spread in the area about the family storing and consuming beef, police said. (below - Photo of the wife and daughter of the man killed by the mob)
Six people were arrested in connection with the attack, sparking protests that led to police firing, damage to vehicles and injuries to a 20-year-old welder who works for the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) facility in the area.

Police said they have sent samples of meat taken from Akhlaq’s home “to the forensics department for examination”. Akhlaq’s daughter, Sajida, said the family had “mutton in the fridge” and not beef. The attack on Akhlaq and his family took place around 10 pm in Bisara after an announcement about the family consuming beef was allegedly made at a local temple, police said.

While Akhlaq, a farm worker, succumbed to injuries suffered during the attack, his son Danish was admitted to a government hospital where doctors described his condition as “critical”. Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate N P Singh said police have been deployed in the area and “as of now, the situation is under control”. "Some locals spread rumours that Akhlaq had cow meat at his home and engaged in cow-slaughtering. Following the rumours, tension ignited and some locals attacked his home in Bisara village," Singh said. While a shopkeeper near the temple and Bisara village sarpanch Sanjeev Kumar Rana claimed that those arrested included the temple priest and an aide, police said the priest — identifed only as “babaji” — was released after questioning. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar, Kiran S, said "Preliminary investigations revealed that an announcement was made from the temple” about the family consuming beef. The priest was picked for questioning as we need to investigate the involvement of others in the case," said Kiran.

According to Sajida, Akhlaq’s 18-year-old daughter who was in the house when the attack took place, “a group of more than 100 people from the village” reached the house that night. "They accused us of keeping cow meat, broke down our doors and started beating my father and brother. My father was dragged outside the house and beaten with bricks. We came to know later that an announcement had been made from the temple about us eating beef," said Sajida. According to the SSP, a case of rioting and murder has been registered against 10 people. "Six of them have been arrested — Rupendra, Vivek, Sri Om, Sandeep, Saurav and Gaurav — all residents of Bisara village," the police officer said.

"We have been told that a group of people entered the temple and used a microphone to make the announcement. However, investigations are still underway. We do not know if any of the accused are associated with the temple. We have collected meat samples from Akhlaq’s house and sent it to the forensics department for examination," said Kiran.

However, as news of the arrests spread, residents from Bisara and neighbouring villages held demonstrations and clashed with police near the NTPC facility, damaging vehicles, including a police van, and burning a motorcycle. When police resorting to firing, Rahul Yadav, who works as a welder at NTPC, received a bullet injury near his abdomen. Yadav’s brother Narendra said they “got caught in the clash” and alleged that his brother was injured by a bullet fired by a policeman. "Around 500 protesters from nearby villages had assembled there.

A policeman fired a shot in the air but it hit Rahul on the side of his abdomen," he said. Senior officers, however, contested Narendra’s version that his brother was hit by a police bullet. "Rahul Yadav received a bullet injury on his lower hip. We are yet to ascertain the type of the bullet and the weapon from which it was fired," SSP Kiran said.

Olusola Adeyeye is now Senate Chief-Whip

Senator Olusola Adeyeye (APC-Osun Central) has been made the new chief whip of the Nigerian senate. Adeyeye was nominated for the position by the Senate South West Caucus and was made whip after Senate President, Bukola Saraki read a letter by APC South West Caucus nominating Prof Sola Adeyeye as Chief Whip of the Senate.

Saraki’s move looks like a u-turn from his previous action when he refused to honour a similar letter sent by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress urging him to appoint select individuals as principal officers of the senate.

The new chief whip, Adeyeye, attended the University of Ibadan, where he was the editor of a students’ newspaper. When the military government of Olusegun Obasanjo lifted the ban on politics in 1978, he worked for the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), the party of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

After Awolowo failed to be elected President in 1979, Adeyeye went abroad where he earned his graduate degree. He earned a PhD from the University of Georgia. Adeyeye later became a Professor of Biology at Duquesne University.

(Photo) Father Kills Daughter With Rat Poison In Bauchi

The fate of 27 -year -old widow, Maryam Musa and mother of 13 -year –old Hajara Jarelu ,whose life was brutally cut short by her father, is worse than death, as life for her is in total jeopardy when she lost a breadwinner and a daughter.

When reporters visited her residence, located at Wayan Makarfi in Bauchi Metropolis, Bauchi State, the sadness and bitterness on her face was so hard that one could hang a wet blanket on- she has lost faith in humanity. Left with four children to cater for, her only source of livelihood is an old grinding machine that she uses to make ends meet.

Narrating her ordeal, Maryam confirmed that her first encounter with love was with Jarelu Ahmed, who she met 14 years ago. Ahmed was a Muslim and she was a Christian. Because of her love for him, Maryam was willing and resolved to convert to Islam so they can marry without hitches.

While preparing to marry, they crave to know each other carnally overpowered both of them and before you know it Maryam had conceived.

The new development eventually led the two promising lovers to fall apart and before the pregnancy developed, they were not on speaking terms. It was in this condition that Maryam was delivered of a healthy baby girl over 13 years ago.

When Maryam realised Jarelu was not willing to settle with her, as he had abandoned her and the baby, she decided to marry another man and this marriage sucessfully prooduced four children.

However, sometimes last month, Maryam decided upon her guardian’s advice. to take her daughter, Hajara to her father’s family as according her; “a girl’s honour lies with her paternal family.” But something unusual and terrible occurred. Jarelu decided to kill his daughter, Hajara at his family home. Jarelu was said to have used rat poisoning to perform the dastardly act.

After killing her, he dug a grave and buried her in his room.Maryam said she had no idea why Jerelu killed his daughter in cold blood.

“I have no idea why he killed my daughter. You see, when Hajara died, she was aged 13 years. since I gave birth to her, he never bought anything for the baby and myself. Before the birth, we agreed that he will take care of everything but up till the time he was arrested, he never took responsibility of anything that had to do with her.”

“Before I conceived Hajara, I was a Christian. when we fell in love, Jarelu said he wants to convert me and I agreed. We dated for over a year and I got pregnant out of wedlock. Since I got pregnant with Hajara, he abandoned me. He was aware of the pregnancy and when I was delivered of the child, I told him and he came and he blessed her. He was even the one that named her Hajara. After that, he left and since then, he deserted us. We did not get marry to each other but 40 days after the birth of Hajara, I converted to Islam.

The bereaved mother told reporters that her ex-lover killed her daughter in cold blood.

“Jarelu killed Hajara with rat poison. I learnt that he met his uncle, who serves as a father to him, Chief Imam of Bauchi Bala Baban Inna that he wants to take Hajara to the Emir’s palace to meet their relatives because they are related. His father consented and he came and told the Imam’s wife to get Hajara ready. She was together with other children in their section when her father called her and instead of taking her out of the house, he took her to his quarters.”

Maryam added that when they entered his room; “ he had already bought the rat poison. He lured her to his room and gave her tea laced with the rat poison. At first, she refused as she told him she had taken her breakfast. He told her he is her father and will not harm her. She accepted the tea and after 2 sips, she started writhing in pain and complaining of stomach pain. He locked the door and left. One of the children, who observed that Jarelu came out of his room without Hajara, went and told her mother what happened.”

She continued that; “ when the family interrogated him on her whereabouts, he refused to say anything and he was taken to the palace where the Emir ordered for his arrest until he disclose where he took her. It was when he as tortured that he revealed what he did. Already, he had dug a grave at the back of his room to bury her.

Since her demise, no one from his family has come to commiserate with us. This happened over a month ago and she stayed for only 2 days with them and now she is gone.”

Hajara’s death left a very big vacuum in her mother’s heart because she was her pillar and her strength.

“Anytime I remember Hajara’s death I am reduced to tears. Since her death, life has not been easy for me. We had been struggling together through thick and thin in my poverty, we try to make ends meet, we never begged from anybody. She just completed her primary school. I suffered since she was a baby and when she has started helping me, she was brutally taken away from me.”

“Hajara assisted me very well. everybody knows this. You have seen our house and you can see the abject poverty we are living in. Hajara was really helping me. She was working to earn some income for her secondary education. She was washing dishes and sweeping for people. I don’t have to swear to you, but she was to be paid N3,000 for the two months that she had worked. She told me she will do the work so that I can pay for her registration, her books and her uniform. The N3,000 was paid few days after her death.”

Maryam lamented that as a widow, she has no one to help her; “ I am a widow. My husband died 15 months ago and I have 4 children who are now orphans. I don’t know what drove him to commit this heinous crime against my daughter. I have not been myself since her death. Till date, I have not opened her bag, it is still as she left it I don’t even have the heart to open it, I know my God will fight for me. God will surely vindicate me. I loved my daughter so much, she was very vibrant, taller than myself and was already bustling with life and he just wasted her life.”

“This death is very painful and I will never forgive him for what he did to my daughter. I will not forgive him because he has cheated me but he has cheated only himself” she stated.

Maryam’s guardian, Mallam Garba Noma attributed the killing to Jarelu’s sense of shame considering that Hajara was born out of wedlock.

“I think he probably killed her because she was born out of wedlock, but even if she was illegitimate, why will he kill her when the girl is not in his custody? What was his business with her? He never provided for her needs. Jarelu as far as I am concerned, is an illiterate and doesn’t know the law because if he does, he wont have acted the way he did. if he says he will hide his deeds from the world, the world is already aware of his shameful act.”

“The Chief Imam is an upright man, he knows the law and I know he will stand on the side of justice? Since the sad incidence, the Imam has been very busy and when I met him, he said he will come but he has been busy. He knows we are bereaved but he is more disturbed. Since I know the Imam, even if a chicken enters that house, it will not be killed not to talk of a human being.”

“This case is beyond us. We are poor people and whatever the law stipulates on this case, we will abide by it. I am calling on the relevant authorities to be fair and just in this case. They should be impartial so that this case can be a deterrent to others,”he said.

When contacted, the Chief Imam, who is the head of the family, said he will not comment on the case until investigations have been completed by the police.

The PPRO confirmed that the case is still under investigation.

NDLEA anti-narcotics officials runs with seized drugs

They are Daniel Goska, ‎a Superintendent of Narcotics, and Ndubuisi Ughor, a Chief Narcotic Agent.

Senators Set For Stormy Session at saraki's trial Tomorrow - Punch

There are indications that Senators that are opposed to Dr. Bukola Saraki’s leadership of the Senate are poised to ask for his resignation when the upper federal legislative chamber re-opens on Tuesday (tomorrow).

The anti-Saraki Senators are citing the trial of the Senate president by the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged false asset declaration as a reason for Saraki to go while his supporters are saying the man should not be proclaimed guilty before he goes through the judicial process.

The Senate will resume plenary on Tuesday. The lawmakers have been on break since August 13.

Investigations by our correspondents in Abuja on Sunday indicated that both anti-Saraki Senators and those supporting the Senate president are poised for a showdown when they return to the chambers.

While the anti-Saraki Senators are said to be resolute in their plot to end his leadership of the Senate, the pro-Saraki members are said to have vowed to ensure that the man is not forced out of office.

Curiously, the Senate president’s “enemies” are mostly members of his All Progressives Congress while his “loyalists” are from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

A strong member of the anti-Saraki faction of the Senate, under the aegis of the Senate Unity Forum, who spoke with one of our correspondents in Abuja on Sunday, explained that his colleagues were determined to restore the integrity of the upper chamber by ensuring that a senator standing trial for corruption would not continue to preside over their affairs.

The APC senator from the North-East geopolitical zone, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Posterity will judge us if we continue to condone corruption in the legislature instead of distancing ourselves from it”

“It is our intention to reach out to more senators who had yet to see things from the same perspective like us and we will play our role and leave the rest for Nigerians to judge.

“The Senate president may rule us out of order while his supporters may also make noise and shout us out but we will say our own and allow history to be the judge.

“Nigerians know what is going on and majority of our people now have access to the mass media more than ever before, so they will also know the role that each senator plays in the whole saga.

“We are not assuring Nigerians that our efforts alone would get Saraki out of office but we will do the needful as responsible lawmakers and would encourage Nigerians to take it up from where we stop.”

Another APC senator from the South-West geopolitical zone, who also craved anonymity, argued that it would be better for the Senate president to step aside to face his trial at the CCT.

Some Senators of Like Minds, being the name of the pro-Saraki Senators’ group, who spoke with The PUNCH said they were aware of the plot by some of their colleagues in the SUF “to blackmail the Senate president” over his current trial at the CCT.

One of them, an APC Senator from the North-Central, who would also not want his name mentioned, said that his colleagues were fully prepared to tackle any “externally motivated motion on Tuesday”

According to him, the Senate president has more than enough loyalists in the upper chamber “to kill any politically-motivated motion sponsored by any godfathers outside the Senate.”

The Senator said, “We have a tradition in the Senate; anybody is free to air his or her view on any issue while the Senate president will in his wisdom rule in favour of the strongest argument.

“We equally wish to warn our colleagues on the opposite side to be careful with the way they are going about the whole issue because any Senator who connives with an external body to run down his or her colleague, would in the shortest possible time bite his fingers in anguish”

A PDP Senator from the South-East geopolitical zone clarified that any motion targeted at calling for the impeachment of Saraki or asking him to step aside would not sail through because the Senate would not discuss on any matter before the court.

The Senator said, “Any anti-Saraki motion on the floor on Tuesday based on his trial at the CCT will fail because all of us know that we can’t discuss any issue before the court.

“The Senate president will definitely not rule on any case before the court so nobody should bother to bring such an issue before him”

Another PDP senator confided in one of our correspondents on Sunday that members of the SUF had been reaching out to some opposition lawmakers to seek their support to sack Saraki by supporting an impeachment motion.

The Senator from the South-South said, “I have been called by a Senator from the South-West geopolitical zone who is my friend but I told him that some leaders of the APC were using Saraki’s trial to get at other senators, which would be disastrous”

Efforts to get an official reaction from the spokesperson for the SUF, Kabir Marafa, failed as he said he was just returning to the country when our correspondent called him on Sunday.

He said, “I am just returning to Nigeria from an overseas trip and it will be difficult for me to comment on an issue that my colleagues had not discussed with me. I am still studying the situation because I have been out of circulation for some time now,” he said.

Also the Senate spokesman, who also doubles as the coordinator of the Like Minds senators, Dino Melaye, failed to pick his call or respond to a text message sent to him on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Campaign for Democracy on Sunday joined those calling for the resignation of Saraki as senate president. The CD called on Saraki to resign as a respect to his person and the integrity of the nation.

The CD, in a statement by one of its zonal coordinators, Ifeanyi Odili, noted that the apprehension over the ongoing crisis at the nation’s legislative arm was capable of consuming the nation’s democracy.

The statement reads in part, “The lingering crisis at the Senate is beginning to be seen as a diversion aimed at dissuading Nigerians from the recovery of our loots from the past government.

“CD noted that since the Bukola Saraki’s saga started, no one has heard about the probe of the former ministers and the Niger Delta amnesty programmes. Up to this moment, nothing has been heard about the investigation, let alone the prosecution of the EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde.

“While we agree that false assets declaration is a criminal offence, we are more concerned about the recovery of our looted money, that is what is expected of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“In a normal society, the Senate president ought to have resigned from the exalted seat before entering the witness box at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.”

In a related development, Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC, Sokoto) on Sunday said there was no plot to oust the Senate president.

Wamakko, one of Saraki loyalists, described reports that Saraki would be removed based on his ongoing trial by the CCT as the handiwork of “political rabble-rousers.”

Wamakko, who spoke to journalists in Abuja, described as untrue reports that members of the PDP were plotting a takeover of the Senate on account of the Senate president’s ordeal.

Wamakko said, “I see Mr. President, Saraki and Senators holding a meeting very soon on how to salvage democracy, which certain elements have been trying to subvert. They will find time to meet to stop our opponents from progressing with acts to sabotage our democracy.

“Once the President and the Senate leadership sit on a round table with a resolve to re-oil the wheels of democracy for national progress, the cynics, the political rabble-rousers and those who never meant well for the APC government will go to sleep.”

NLC Denies asking Saraki to Resign

NLC Denies Requesting for Saraki's Resignation Over Assets Declaration Travails

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba last night denied a story credited to the labour congress that the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, should resign from office because of his trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Wabba in a statement in Abuja noted that the NLC, though fighting corruption, believes in the rule of law.

He said that the NLC as a law abiding institution, believes in the rule of law and due process and thus could not have asked for such without recourse to the law.

The NLC believes in the rule of law and we believe that whatever is right should be done. By our laws, the mere alleging that somebody has committed an offense, by our laws we don't judge the person as guilty as pronounced by a court of law.

To me that would be following due process and the rule of law than to midway begin to make pronouncement and criminalize people. I think what is right should be done rightly," Wabba said.

family of lady killed by mass shooter hit with $203,000 fine for lawsuit against ammo company

When Aurora, Colorado, assailant James Holmes open fire on a movie theater in 2012, he brutally murdered 12 people. One of the victims was 24-year-old Jessica Ghawi, an aspiring sports reporter.
Her parents moved forward with a lawsuit against Lucky Gunner, the online ammunition store that supplied Holmes with the ammo he used in the deadly shooting.

The judge dismissed the case on the grounds that online sellers have special immunity under the Federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, in addition to a similar Colorado statute.
Now her parents, Lonnie and Sandy Phillips, have taken to Huffington Post in order to explain why they attempted the unsuccessful suit.

The grieving parents wrote an opinion piece on the matter, which HuffPo headlined “We Lost Our Daughter to a Mass Shooter and Now Owe $203,000 to His Ammo Dealer.”
Here are a few excerpts:

“We brought our lawsuit because we thought it was outrageous that companies could sell a dangerous man an arsenal without getting any information about him, and without making any effort to see if he was a dangerous killer,” they wrote.
    “Which he was.”
“These companies set up their business so people just like this killer can arm themselves at the click of a mouse. We wanted to change that.”

They noted that they didn’t seek financial compensation from the lawsuit:

“We did not seek any money in our case. We just wanted injunctive relief, to have these companies act reasonably when they sold dangerous materiel, like 100-round ammunition magazines, ammunition, body armor, and tear gas.”

The judge thought the case was so frivolous that he made the family pay the ammunition store a hefty fee, to the tune of over $200,000:

“This is an outrageous amount, especially given that this case was decided after one single motion!”

An additional aspect of the story is that the Brady campaign may have put the parents up to the case, only to leave them with the court costs when the “strike suit” didn’t go as planned.
According to the NRA:

The court was even more direct in an opinion released last week awarding the defendants defense costs and attorneys’ fees. “It is apparent that this case was filed to pursue the political purposes of the Brady Center,” Judge Matsch stated, “and, given the failure to present any cognizable legal claim, bringing these defendants into the Colorado court where the prosecution of James Holmes was proceeding appears to be more of an opportunity to propagandize the public and stigmatize the defendants than to obtain a court order which counsel should have known would be outside the authority of this court.”
When all was said and done, the plaintiffs were ordered to pay the various defendants a total of $203,001.86. Just who will ultimately foot the bill is unknown, but Judge Matsch also noted the close relationship of the named plaintiffs to the Brady Campaign itself. Brady, having exploited the plaintiffs’ tragic circumstances for the group’s own political agenda, hopefully won’t leave the plaintiffs on the financial hook as well. Predictably, the fee award is being appealed.

Lucky Gunner, the ammo shop, has noted that they will donate this money to guns rights groups. The family claims they don’t have the money to pay the legal fees.
But even with the threat of financial destitution, the parents of Jessica Ghawi are still set on changing the gun laws in this country.

“We are calling on the citizens of this country and the gun violence prevention community to stand ready to help us get in the face of state and national legislators.
Join us in helping to get the word out to the American citizens who are not aware of how these laws take away the rights of victims of gun violence.”

The parents have also started a non-profit organization called Jessi’s Message.

Emir lamido Sanusi Secretly Marries 18 yearold Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa,Adamawa Princess

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has finally tied the knot with his rumoured heartthrob, Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa.

The 18-year old becomes the emir’s fourth wife. She recently completed secondary school and is been enrolled for advanced level studies.

In addition to his first wife, Sadiya, who is the daughter of the late emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, Mr. Sanusi has two other wives — Maryam and Rakiya.
The secret wedding was contracted in a low-keyed ceremony in the town of Yola on Friday.

Palace sources in Yola told PREMIUM TIMES the wedding fatiha held inside the palace of the Lamido minutes after Jumma’at prayer.

Insiders say that the influential emir only sent out invitation to some dignitaries across the country, as Kano government officials sneaked into Yola for the wedding fatiha to avoid journalists.

The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, was said to have acted as the guardian for the groom, while his Adamawa counterpart, Jibrilla Bindow, played the role of the bride’s guardian, who gave her hands out in marriage to the monarch.

Mr. Sanusi’s rumoured marriage to the princess was debunked in the past.

“His decision to take a new wife is in line with Islamic injunction.

Islam allows having a maximum of four wives for those who can treat all of them equally and provide for a large family,’’ said a top Kano state government official who travelled to Yola for the wedding.

A social commentator, Dan’Almajiri Ibrahim, argued that in ancient times, links between empires were tightened by marriages among royals and nobles across boundaries.

“So, the engagement of the Adamawa princess to Emir Sanusi II may also be a move to deepen royal bond between Adamawa and Kano.

“You see, historically, both emirates have similar origins in the 19th Century Uthman Bn Fodio’s jihad,’’ he concluded.

Emir Sanusi could not be reached for comments as he is currently away in Saudi Arabia, where he is acting as leader of Nigeria’s delegation to this year’s hajj.

A highly placed palace source however confirmed the development to PREMIUM TIMES, saying Sa’adatu would not move in with the emir immediately.

saudi Tragedy: 30 Dead Nigerians Identified by Hajj Commission

Thirty Nigerian pilgrims have been identified among the 717 pilgrims killed during the stampede at Mina, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, and the figures may increase - as health workers and rescue team continue to identify the corpses, a senior official of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) told THISDAY on Friday.

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari also yesterday said he was deeply saddened by the colossal calamity which occurred in Mina and called on King Salman of Saudi Arabia to ensure a comprehensive and thorough exercise that would identify any flaws in Hajj organisation with a view to avoiding a recurrence of such tragedies during the annual pilgrimage.

The NAHCON’s official who spoke with THISDAY from Saudi Arabia, said the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar urged the Saudi government to involve countries, whose citizens were killed in the stampede in the investigation.

‘’For now, investigation is still ongoing; we are still trying to get the total number of Nigerian pilgrims who died and sustained different degree of injuries. But so far, we have identified 30 of the corpses. And unfortunately, the figures may increase’’, the NAHCON’s official who pleaded anonymity told THISDAY.

This revelation came as Saudi Arabia yesterday set up a committee to investigate the cause of the deadly incident, one of the worst-ever tragedies at the annual Muslim pilgrimage.

The Chairman of the Borno State Pilgrims Board, Professor Tijjani Almiskin, a prominent Nigerian female journalist, Bilkisu Yusuf, and a member of the Nigerian medical team, Dr. Hafsat Shittu were among many Nigerians killed in the stampede.

THISDAY gathered that many of the Nigerian victims were from Lagos, Kastina and Borno states.

The stampede occurred during the symbolic stoning of the devil ritual.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's health minister has said that the stampede may have been caused by pilgrims failing to follow instructions from authorities.

In a statement posted on the ministry's website Friday, the minister, Khalid al-Falih, said an investigation would be conducted urgently into the worst disaster to strike the annual Hajj pilgrimage for 25 years.

According to the minister, "The investigations into the incident of the stampede that took place today in Mina, which was perhaps because some pilgrims moved without following instructions by the relevant authorities, will be fast and will be announced as has happened in other incidents".

On his part, the Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, said he had ordered a review of the Hajj plans after the disaster, in which two large groups of pilgrims collided with each other at a crossroad in Mina, a few kilometres east of Mecca, on their way to performing the "stoning of the devil" ritual at Jamarat.

The findings of the investigation will be submitted to King Salman, "who will take appropriate measures" in response, the Saudi Press agency said.

A Kenyan survivor who returned to the pillars on Friday told AFP news agency that his group lost three people, including one whose fate remains unknown.

"I can blame the Saudi government because they did not control the situation. I was there. I survived," Isaac Saleh said as tears welled in his eyes.

Buhari Urges Saudi Authorities to Identify Flaws in Hajj Operations…
President Buhari yesterday said he was deeply saddened by the colossal calamity which occurred in the Saudi Arabia on Thursday, claiming the lives of hundreds of pilgrims, including some Nigerians.

Buhari, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said he believed that the stampede at Mina in which a notable Nigerian Journalist, Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf, Prof. Tijjani El-Miskin and others lost their lives was a monumental tragedy, not only for citizens of the countries involved, but for the global Islamic community.

The president extended sincerest condolences to the families of the over 700 pilgrims who lost their lives in this latest disaster in the Holy Places which occurred less than two weeks after a crane collapse in Mecca claimed more than a hundred lives. Six Nigerians died in that crane collapse.

Buhari commiserated with the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the Nigerian Union of Journalists on the sad loss of Hajiya Bilkisu, “an exemplary, dedicated, knowledgeable, very credible, highly-respected, outstanding editor and columnist who, even in death, would remain a glittering role model for journalists, within and outside Nigeria.”

The President said he had taken note of the assurance by the Government of Saudi Arabia that Thursday's catastrophe would be investigated.

He however called on King Salman of Saudi Arabia to ensure a comprehensive and thorough exercise that would identify any flaws in Hajj organisation with a view to avoiding a recurrence of such tragedies during the annual pilgrimage.

The president noted it was not within our powers to question the will of God, and prayed that

Almighty Allah would comfort the families who lost their beloved ones in the stampede and receive the souls of all those who died in the Holy Land while fulfilling the religious obligation of the Hajj.

Also yesterday, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus expressed the sympathy and concern of the leadership of the opposition party on the unfortunate incident that claimed the lives of hundreds of Muslims attending Hajj in Mina, near Mecca.

Secondus said he and the entire members of the PDP, sympathises and condoles with the Muslim Community worldwide over the tragic stampede. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, PDP said it had been “grief-stricken since receiving the news of the tragic incident.”

The party urged all Nigerians to remain in prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and for speedy recovery for those wounded in the stampede.

It charged the Muslim community not to allow the incident detract them from the divine benefits of the Eid El-Kabir, and their faith in the Almighty Allah.

Adedoyin added: “Hajia Bilkisu was the matriarch of the IPI Nigerian National Committee; she was integrity personified. So self-disciplined, she hardly missed any IPI event and paid her dues ( including this year's) promptly.

“We mourn the departure of this iconic journalist with common touch and send our condolences to her family, the various organisations she served devotedly and the entire Nigerian media community. May the Almighty Allah forgive Hajia Bilkisu Yusuf her earthly sins and give her family the fortitude to bear this great, irreparable loss.”

Man Arrested With Cocaine In Lagos

The suspect, 39-year-old Okpue Ernest Ifeanyi came to Nigeria from Brazil for his traditional wedding, but was arrested by operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for being possession of suspected wraps of cocaine.

Ifeanyi confessed that he was paid N400,000 to take 59 wraps of cocaine to Nigeria. He said that he decided to take the deal because he wanted to add more money to his already planned wedding.
The groom-to-be said that he suspected someone cast a spell on him, for he could not understand why he jeopardised his planned traditional wedding and dashed his betrothal’s happiness because of N400,000.

Ifeanyi, who has lived in Brazil for a year, said: “I work in a restaurant in Brazil.
I sincerely want to get married and have a family. In the process of trying to make more money, I was given 59 wraps of cocaine to take to Nigeria for N400,000. Now I realised I have made a big mistake. I pray my woman will find a place in her heart to forgive me. I feel I’m under a spell.” Arrested along with Ifeanyi are Okonkwo Daniel Anagor, 26, Lawal Monsuru Ademola, 33, Ogbonna Donatus Chigozie and Okoro Chibueze Augustine.

The Head, Media and Publicity of NDLEA, Mitchel Ofoyeju, said the suspects were caught at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, for unlawful possession of 10.255kgs of narcotics hidden in garri (West African food made from cassava) and luggage. Two other suspects, Augustine and Ifeanyi were caught with 2.575kgs and 950 grams of cocaine from Brazil.”

One Dies, 20 Hospitalised After Meal At Traditional Marriage

A 13-year-old primary school pupil has been confirmed dead, while 20 others are battling for life in different hospitals in Enugu-Ezike in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, after eating at a traditional marriage ceremony last weekend.

Trouble started after the traditional marriage of Obiageli (surname witheld) when her in-laws departed to their hometown, Nrobo in Nsukka Council area. About 30 people, who ate the soup prepared for the entertainment of guests, were said to have started complaining of serious stomach upset.
Things got worse around 3 am, when many guests began stooling and vomiting blood, causing pandemonium among the villagers.

The girl, who was at the wedding, reportedly gave up the ghost before medical assistance could be sought, while others were rushed to different hospitals in Aji and Ogrute communities.
One of the in-laws to the family of the newly married woman, Emmanuel Odo nwa Urama a.k.a Ite ego, who narrated what happened to Daily Sun, stated that contrary to the earlier report that six people died after taking pork served in the home of the celebrant, only one person has been confirmed dead. He stated that he also ate the pork without any sign of trouble.

Odo, however, stated that three of his children who ate the soup were affected, adding that there was strong suspicion that the soup was poisoned.
He confirmed that the bride, Obiageli, returned from her husband’s home the next morning with swollen legs and other complications, but her situation was being handled with traditional and orthodox medicines.

According to him, the bride’s family has vowed to get to the root of the matter by any possible means so as to ascertain what actually happened.
Other victims who were said to be recovering in the hospital included uncle of the newly married girl, Anthony, his wife, Ijeoma and children.

Saraki Was Actually Stoned In ilorin..punch Newspaper

ANGRY mob on Thursday hurled water sachets and stones at a tent under which the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and some other dignitaries sat, at the Eid-el-Kabir prayer ground in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Amid shouts of “ole” “ole” (thief! thief!), the mob, made up mainly of youths and workers in the state, reportedly defied security operatives at the Eid-el-Kabir prayer and threw objects at the tent.

Saraki was reportedly smuggled out of the area by security operatives.

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari, who arrived at the venue at 10 am, five minutes after Saraki, reportedly met the mob hurling sachets of pure water and stones at dignitaries including the Senate President.

The tent also accommodated the Emir; the Chief Imam, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir; the state House of Assembly speaker, Ali Ahmad; and a former Acting national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, and now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, among others.

One of our correspondents reports that the state-owned radio station, Radio Kwara, which had been transmitting the event live at a point, discontinued its broadcast.

Hundreds of faithful, who could not get to the prayer ground because of gridlock, but who had been following the proceedings on the radio, were unable to observe the congregational prayer because of the transmission stoppage.

It was learnt that a coaster bus conveying the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, and others, was also vandalised in the mayhem with eight persons in the bus sustaining injuries.

The Senate president has however said that he was not attacked.

Saraki, in a statement by his media office, said any report that indicated that he was attacked was false.

The statement partly read “Before the Senate President left the prayer ground, he spoke to reporters who had asked him about his message for Nigerians to mark the Eid-el-Kabir.

“We want to say that nothing can be further from the truth as the Senate President was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.

“We however observe that there was a protest allegedly staged by local government employees over purported non-payment of salaries, which hoodlums attempted to hijack but this development was immediately curtailed by security agents.”

He said no missile was hurled at him.

But eyewitnesses told our correspondent in Ilorin that the mob had targeted Saraki in respect of allegations of false asset declaration levelled against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau and trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

One of the eyewitnesses, Rasaq Yahaya, said, “The mob was directly facing the prayer ground shouting ‘ole, ole’ (Thief! Thief) at Bukola (Saraki). They were throwing stones and sachets of pure water at him, his entourage, the Emir and others. If not for the tent that shielded them, they would have been injured by the stones. He (Saraki) was their target. Some Kwarans are angry with Bukola concerning what they have been hearing in the news lately as regards his case with the EFCC.”

Another eyewitness, Kazeem Agboji, however condemned the attack, and said the attackers were mainly workers, who were being owed salaries by the state government.

Agboji said, “I learnt they (the attackers) were workers who have not received their salaries. Yesterday (Wednesday), some workers were paid a month salary while some got two months’ salaries. They assembled opposite the prayer ground. As Bukola (Saraki) arrived, they started mumbling. Five minutes after when the Emir came, they began shouting ‘thief, thief’ and the whole place was messed up with stones.

“The Imam could not even say khutba after the prayer. His ram was quickly slaughtered and everybody fled. It was unfortunate that this incident happened on a day like this. It is a total embarrassment and nemesis would catch up with those who caused the confusion.”

Another eyewitness, who identified himself only as Kadiri, said the fact that the state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, was not present at the prayer ground suggested that the attackers were not state workers.

“If they were to be aggrieved civil servants as some people are saying, the governor would be their target and he did not come. I think Bukola (Saraki) is their focus,” he said.

A worker at the University of Ilorin, Mr. Garba Apo, who spoke with one of our correspondents on the telephone, said he was one the workers that accompanied the VC to the prayer ground. He said the windows of the bus were shattered and that he sustained injuries in the legs.

“It was terrible. I had to jump through the window of the bus. The windows were damaged. The stones caught up with us and about eight persons were injured in the head. The VC did not sustain any physical injury,” Apo said.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, told journalists in Ilorin that the mob were made up of hoodlums who had come to beg for money but were disappointed as they could not get to where some prominent people were seated.

He said that the police had got information that some hoodlums, who normally beg for money at the prayer ground, were planning to cause trouble if they did not get enough money.

He said the police had arrested eight of the attackers and that the prayers later went on without hitches.

But a policeman, who was on duty at the prayer ground, told one of our correspondents that about eight vehicles that escorted Saraki to the venue were vandalised.

“They aimed the stones at Bukola. It was very difficult for us to control the mob. We only shot at the air to disperse them. They vandalised about eight cars that conveyed Bukola’s entourage to the prayer ground and cut the the wire being used for transmission by Radio Kwara,” the source said.

Okasanmi said, “Today is the celebration of the Eid-Kabir and as usual we deployed enough policemen, in conjunction with other security agencies, to make sure that the celebration was free and peaceful.

“It was free but in the course of prayers, there was the resurgence of criminals, who we had put into consideration in planning our security strategies. They always come there to beg for money from well to do members of the public. So, they, as usual, came and when we started noticing that they were becoming unruly, we came out to stop them from gaining entrance or going near where the Very Important Persons were.

“They did not want to be held back as they felt they could get money from their leaders since the VIPs were far away from where they were. They actually became unruly and we had to chase them out and succeeded in arresting some of them. About eight of the miscreants were arrested and they are in our custody now and we have started investigation.

“We learnt that one or two people were injured but there was no official report to that. For us now, there was no casualty but when we are through with the investigation, we would be able to know if there was any casualty.

“We have not got any official report of any vehicle that was damaged but we heard that one or two vehicles were damaged. But we have not seen any injured person or damaged vehicles. As far as we are concerned, they are miscreants and they were there begging for money.”

The Kwara State government condemned the attack on dignitaries at the prayer ground, saying it was absurd, barbaric and unIslamic.

According to a statement by Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed’s Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahaab Oba, the government said it heard of plans by some aggrieved politicians, in collaboration with some of the local government employees and teachers, to protest arrears of salaries owed them by their various local government authorities.

He said that the government had gone out of its way to negotiate and secure bank loans to offset the arrears, pending the time when the Federal Government bailout would be released and that workers had received their salaries.

Fake lawyer arrested

A fake lawyer, Olawale Falola, who claimed to be a dropout of a university in Osun State was arrested by the Oyo State Police Command during a stop-and-search in Ibadan recently.

It was gathered that after seeing a sticker belonging to the Nigeria Bar Association on his windscreen, the police asked him about his identity, but he couldnt defend his 'Lawyer' status.

He said he made N6m from victims whom he promised to help secure jobs at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

According to him:

“I paraded myself as a lawyer and I have taken money from more than 100 people. I promised to get jobs for them at NNPC and security organisations. I have made up to N4m from the practice out of which I bought a Toyota Corolla car. I lived in Osogbo. I came to Ibadan to visit my family when I was arrested by the police.”

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Leye Oyebade, said Falola’s car valued at N2m had been impounded and that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations into his activities were concluded.

He said:

“Falola was arrested for parading himself as a lawyer when he was not.

“The car was bought from the proceeds of his illegal activity and he had confessed to the crime. There is no place for such people in our society. In our renewed effort to completely rid the state of criminals, the state police command will not give room for criminals to thrive.”

Woman stabs 13-year-old househelp

A trader, Esther Bello, has been arrested by the Lagos state Police for allegedly abusing her 13-year-old househelp, Titi, in Obanikoro, Lagos.

According to Punch Metro, Policemen from the Pedro station were called by neighbours after Titi ran out of her madam's house with a bleeding hand that had been cut deep in 3 places. She explained that her madam, Esther had caused the injuries and threatened to kill her if she raised any alarm.. However, when the Police got to the apartment, Esther lied that the maid had travelled to the Ikorodu area with a friend.

According to one of the neighbours who witnessed the incident, at about 1:30 am on Wednesday, the maid, who was said to be from Cotonou, Benin Repubic, ran out of the house with a bleeding hand and told neighbours she had been cut by Esther with a broken bottle.
Concerned neighbours confronted Esther and asked her why she allegedly cut Titi with a broken bottle but Esther ignored them and Titi returned to the house.

Then at about 7am, the neighbours went back to the house to check on Titi to see how she was faring only to see her doing domestic work with the injured hand that hadn't been treated.

After Esther told the Police that Titi was no longer with her. They returned with a search warrant, combed the house then found the maid bleeding in a locked room in the house.

Esther was subsequently arrested for child abuse.

Some officials of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team went to the police station, and took charge of the welfare of the girl.

Update on fake doctor who sold baby to childless couple for N300k

Olawale Omolaja (right) was arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for selling a week-old baby for N300,000 to a childless couple. Omolaja was arrested along with a couple Dele and Radiat Onogbile, following a tip-off.He reportedly sold the baby to the couple after they paid him N136,000 as an advance. Left is the biological mother of the baby sold.
All the suspects were caught after the couple’s landlady in the Mile 12 suburb of Lagos discovered that the woman had a new born baby without being pregnant. She was said to have notified the Ketu Police Division of the suspicious presence of a new born baby in the couple’s home. Upon interrogation, it was discovered that Mr Omolaja, billed the couple N300,000 for the baby.

Further investigation revealed that the baby’s mother, Idiat Babatunde, a student at the Offa Polytechnic in Kwara State, initially claimed said she gave Mr Omolaja her baby in order to go and complete her clearance in school,it appears she knew about the sale of her child. Idiat, 39, claimed she left the baby in Mr Omolaja’s care because he’s a doctor and a friend to her husband.

It was also gathered that Idiat collected N70,000 from the 136,000 before leaving for school. She was said to have given the baby up because her supposed husband, Akiola, abandoned her after impregnating her and relocated to Rivers State.

Unable to fend for the child a week after it was born, she handed over the baby to Mr Omolaja, who has been the Onogbile's doctor since 2009. Their marriage was at the brink of collapse as a result of childlessness and that they were separated until the baby was handed over to them on September 14. Idiat said:
"I gave birth in September 5 and on September 13, I gave the baby to Dr Omolaja because I needed to go back to school in order to complete my clearance so that I can go for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with the next batch. I gave him the baby because I was having issues with my husband and we have been separated. I planned to spend two weeks in school and two weeks in Lagos but that same week that I went to school, I received a call that I should come and identify my baby at Ketu police station. I was surprised because I did not know what my baby could be doing in Ketu."
The childless couple said they repeatedly asked Mr Omolaja about the mother of the child but he told them that the baby's biological mother was dead. Police say all the arrested persons will be charged to court immediately after the current Sallah holidays.

Eid-el-kabir: Saraki said I Wasnt Stoned

Following news reports that Nigeria’s senate president, Bukola Saraki, was attacked at the Eid Prayer Groundduring the prayers to mark the Eid-el-Kabir in Ilorin earlier today, Thursday, September 24, the embattled former governor has denied the reports.

Mr Saraki who spoke through his media office said he was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.

Saraki said he had earlier spoke with reporters at the prayer ground as he arrived in the company of the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ali Ahmad and a former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Alfa Belgore.

“We want to say that nothing can be further from the truth as the Senate President was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.

“We however observe that there was a protest allegedly staged by local government employees over purported non-payment of salaries which hoodlums attempted to hijacked but this development was immediately curtailed by security agents.

“Therefore, to say that the Senate President was attacked at the venue of the prayers is totally false and a figment of the imagination of those behind the story because the protest was never targeted at him, neither was any missile hurled at him,”the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has stated that majority of the workers in the state have received their salaries and that those yet to receive theirs will do so on Monday as Thursday and Friday of this week are public holidays.

Barack Obama's cousin,Marie Auma sues Scotland Yard for £400,000

One of Barack Obama's cousins, 57 year old Marie Auma, is suing the Met Police for £400,000 pounds over claims that her colleagues subjected her to harassment and passing gas next to her desk.

She told a court that officers and staff at Southwark Police Station conspired to harass and bully her with two officers regularly passing gas near her in a "primitive" and "loud" manner. Lol.
She claims she was constantly belittled and humiliated between 2007 and 2009. She said the harassment began in 2007 when she was refused leave to visit her 2 brothers' graves after they died in a car crash in Kenya and ended in her being medically retired with mental health difficulties, the court heard.

Ms Auma is suing for £400,000 compensation in a trial at Central London County Court. The Met denies liability.
Judge Simon Freeland QC heard Ms Auma, whose job involved liaising with crime victims on the Telephone Investigations Bureau, had been the victim of "21st Century bullying."
She said:

"It was two of them - PC Andy Whiting and Ray Clement - who would do this kind of behaviour.
"PC Whiting was passing wind when he came and stood right in front of me, passing wind in a very primitive way. It made a "brrrp" noise.
"He would come and stand right in front of me and blew the wind loudly and then left.
"It was normally when I was on a late shift that they would behave in that manner."
However, Iain Daniels, representing the Met, said: "This was a matter to laugh about, rather than become upset about."
Ms Auma responded that it happened "so often that it was upsetting."
Mr Daniels then suggested: "This piece of childishness didn't in fact happen, did it?"

The court heard that Ms Auma was often asked to go on "inappropriate" breaks while filling out CRIS reports, and she was subsequently logged out of the system half way through her work.

Speaking of her line manager, DS Andy Rowley, Ms Auma said: "He used to single me out and tell me to take breaks when I was in the middle of my reports, asking me to take inappropriate breaks."
Asked whether he perceived this as part of a conspiracy to disrupt her work, Ms Auma responded: "Yes, that's how I saw it."
When Mrs Auma's two brothers died in Kenya in a car crash in early 2007 she took two weeks compassionate leave, something she claims was interrupted by unnecessary calls from HR about her health and DS Rowley asking whether he could visit her home.
"These were a series of unnecessary questions being asked when I was going through this," Mrs Auma said.
Mr Daniels responded: "These questions were not inappropriate.
"It was just the way you were feeling. These management actions, we would suggest, were perfectly appropriate, which you saw through the lens of your awful bereavement.
"So when somebody asked about your health, because of how terrible the bereavement was, you felt like somebody was attacking you.
"What you perceived as bullying and harassment was really just a product of the terrible tragedy that you had suffered in 2007.
"All those inquiries about your health were not harassment."
Ms Auma is related to Mr Obama through her aunt, Kezia Obama, who is the president's Bracknell, Berkshire-based step-mother.

Mr Daniels said Ms Auma had booked her trip to Kenya without first getting permission.

Native Doctor sells a week old baby for N300,000 in Lagos

Lagos state police have arrested Mr. Olawale Onalaja, a traditional-medicine doctor for allegedly selling a one week-old baby to a couple Dele and Oluwakemi Ayangbile, for N300,000 in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.

It was learnt that the 29 year old mother of the baby, Idiat Babatunde, had her baby on September 5th.

Then on Sept 13th, she had a misunderstanding with her Husband, Akinola Babatunde, and because she had to travel to school for her convocation, she took the 8 days old baby to Onalaja, who was supposed  to be a family friend and asked him to watch the infant until she returned from school, a Polytechnic in Osun State.

However, as soon as she left, he contacted the Ayangbiles and sold the baby to them for N300,000.

So when Idiat returned from school, she went straight to Onalaja to pick up her baby, however, he lied to her that the baby was in the custody of a government-owned orphanage where he would be properly taken care of.

In regards to the Ayangbiles, they took the infant home but after 3 days, their suspicious landlord who knew Kemi Ayangbile hadn't been pregnant but now had a new born baby was said to have reported the matter at the Ketu Police Division.

According to Punch Metro, the police visited the Ayangbiles, arrested them and also picked up Onalaja.

Kemi, said she had been trying to get pregnant since she got married in 2009 to no avail. She said Onalaja was a family friend who had advised her to adopt a child.
She said:

“I have known the traditional doctor since 2013. I got married in 2009 and I used to have miscarriages. It was while looking for treatment that I met him. In 2014, he advised that I should adopt a baby, but I did not agree.

“Two Mondays ago, he called me on the telephone and said I should meet him. He told me that he had a baby at hand to give us, adding that he would obtain all the necessary papers. I then discussed it with my husband and he said we should go for the baby since Onalaja was going to get the papers. He did not tell us that the baby’s mother was not aware of the transaction.

“I paid him N300,000, and brought the baby home. But after three days, the police came to arrest my husband and I. We have been barren for six years, and we need a child. We mean no harm to the baby.”

Onalaja on the other hand denied selling the baby to the couple, he said he only took N156,000 from them which was needed to process adoption papers from the government ministry in Alausa.

He said, “The agreement between the mother of the baby and I was that I would take the baby to an orphanage. The mother agreed to collect the baby back after three months in government’s custody.

“It is true that I collected N156,000 from Kemi and gave the baby to her. I wanted to take the baby to Alausa to register in an orphanage. But I was called on the telephone that the couple was arrested by the police. That was how I was also arrested. I do not sell babies. The mother is known to me.”

The mother of the baby, Idiat, said:

“I had a quarrel with my husband, and so he was not at home when the baby was born.

“I gave the baby to Onalaja a week after while I went to school. It was when I returned that I realised that my baby had been sold. But I am happy to be reunited with him.”

A police source, however, said the mother of the baby knew about the sale of the baby.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the baby had been reunited with the parents, while the suspects would be charged to court.
He said:

“Although the baby has been returned to the mother, he is still under the watch of the Family Support Unit of the command.

“Investigation is almost concluded, and the suspects will appear in court soon.”
