The total weight of the drugs, 11.461kg has an estimated street value of N57 million. The Anti-narcotic officers said they have also arrested five suspected drug traffickers in connection with the seized drugs. Unlike white cocaine, seizures of crack cocaine are not common in the country.
According to the airport commander of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos Mr Hamza Umar, one of the suspects Omoluonye Izuchukwu Simon was caught with both white and crack cocaine in tins weighing 7.785kg. The crack cocaine weighed 3.885kg while the white weighed 3.900kg.
“Akubueze Kyrian Nonso, 28 years old had 1.110kg by the side of his luggage while Obidike Onodyer, 40 years old ingested 11 wraps of cocaine weighing 0.485 grammes.
“Others are Onyeabor Maduabuchukwu Friday, 35 years old found with 74 wraps weighing 1.256kg and Ifoh Emma, 37 years old was caught with 34 wraps weighing 0.710 grammes,” he stated.
The commander added that apart from Onyeabor Maduabuchukwu Friday who hails from Enugu State, the other suspects are from Anambra State.
One of the suspects Ifoh Emma, who claims to be a barber in Brazil, said he got involved in drugs to sustain his family.
Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade called on members of the public to shun drug trafficking and engage in legitimate business ventures.
Federal Appointments: Buhari Didn’t Inform Me Of My Non-inclusion -onu
The claim according to a Facebook post has it that Onu reportedly told a friend that Buhari called him that he would not be made the SGF before formal announcement.
There had been anticipation that Onu would emerge the new SGF before Babachir Lawal from Adamawa State was eventually named.
The Press Statement made available by his Chief Press Secreatary reads Sunny Onyeukwu – ‘’The attention of His Excellency, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has been drawn to a seeming orchestrated campaign apparently originating from the social media to smear his hard earned reputation.
On Saturday, August 28, this year, a Facebook broadcast titled “SGF; OGBONNAYAONU AND VAINGLORIOUS NIGERIANS” allegedly at the instance of one Ajayi Temitope, was circulated in the social media without his knowledge and consent.
‘’In it, Dr. Onu was falsely and perhaps maliciously credited as having told an unnamed friend of Mr. Ajayi Temitope in a 35minute telephone conversation that prior to the announcement of appointments into the offices of Chief of Staff to the President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among other positions, he (Dr.) Onu was informed by Mr. President of his intended action and why he would not be chosen for appointment as SGF.’’
‘’The Facebook broadcast further falsely credited Dr. Onu with expressing regrets about how his Abuja residence had become “a mecca of sorts” for those seeking patronage from him in anticipation of his appointment as SGF and lamented that soon after the announcement was made without his being appointed to serve in the exalted capacity, his residence became deserted.’’
‘’For the avoidance of doubt, it has become important to state in strong terms that Dr. Onu never expressed the views credited to him in the Facebook broadcast as no such conversation ever took place between him and our respected Mr. President. He could not have, therefore, communicated a nonexistent conversation to another person, more so an unnamed individual on telephone. Accordingly, it is false, cheap and utterly in bad faith. Already, Dr. Onu has personally issued a rebuttal on the matter which has been circulated in the social media in a Press Statement dated August 30, 2015.’’
‘’However, it has become necessary to issue the foregoing clarification in view of ongoing efforts in some sections of the print and electronic media to further allude to the same phony Facebook broadcast without verifying the proof of its authenticity. Needless to add, that, such is capable of misleading the general public, and by implication, injure the well-known integrity and honour which Dr. Onu holds sacred and guards jealously.
At this juncture, it is important to recall that soon after the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, this year, the social media was awash with the purported “news” of his “appointment” as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.’’
‘’Specifically on May 31, this year, a spurious Twitter account surfaced in his name where he was quoted as having “thanked God and the good people of Nigeria for this opportunity to serve”. This was despite the fact that Dr. Onu does not own or operate a personal Twitter account, thus prompting him to disclaim the broadcast in a Statement dated June 1, 2015, which was circulated in the social media.’’

$700m Second Niger Bridge Money Missing, Oshiomhole Insists
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has called on a former minister of work, Mike Onolememen, to explain to Nigerians the whereabouts of $700 million (N140 billion) released for the unexecuted second Niger bridge project.
Mr. Oshiomhole said in a statement by his chief press secretary, Peter Okhiria, that he stood by an earlier statement that $700 million was drawn from the sovereign wealth funds for the project.
“Rather than crucify Comrade Oshiomhole for the disclosure, former Minister of Works should direct his energy and explanation to the managers of the Sovereign Wealth Fund who have depleted the savings on the explanation that it was meant for the 2nd Niger Bridge,” the statement said.
Mr. Oshiomhole said, “The revelation came from those who were managers of the Sovereign Wealth Funds and not figures manufactured by anybody”.
“They told our committee that about $700m dollars were taken from the Sovereign Wealth Fund for the Second Niger Bridge project,” Mr. Oshiomhole said.
Mr. Onolememen had on Friday in a statement denied the allegation. He said Mr. Oshiomhole was misleading Nigerians with “wild and spurious” allegations.
The former minister said, “The Federal Government of Nigeria, guided by the Transaction Adviser, Roughton International, agreed to provide a refundable Catalytic Funding of N30bn. By May 2015, N10bn Catalytic Funding was paid from the Federal Ministry of Works’ SURE-P Budget to fast-track the early and sub-structural works of the bridge. This implies that the successful concessionaire, JB-NSIA Consortium, has responsibility for the design, finance and construction of the project, as well as its operation.”
He added that the total project cost is N108bn (excluding duties and Value Added Tax) with a completion period of about 48 months. This cost was arrived at, after the Bureau of Public Procurement’s review of the concessionaire’s submitted cost of N138bn, the former minister said.
However, Mr. Oshiomhole said since the former minister was aware that no reasonable work had been done on the second Niger Bridge, he and the mangers of the sovereign wealth funds should simply explain to Nigeria what they did with the huge amount that was withdrawn for the project.
“The real people who should apologize to Nigerians for their many sins against the country are those who expended so much of our resources without any corresponding achievements to show for it,” the governor said.
The governor accused the former minister and the past administration of destroying existing roads rather than rehabilitate them.
He said, “In Edo state, the Aduwawa end of the Benin-Auchi road is almost impassable especially during this rainy season. As we speak, erosion has cut off the Benin-Auchi road into two and motorists are going through hell passing through that road. What about Benin- Abraka road; one hell of a road completely abandoned and vandalized. In the name of politics, they came trying to impress Edo people but ended up depressing all of us.”

An African migrant has been caught trying to smuggle himself into Spain while crammed into a tiny space behind a car’s engine, in the latest desperate ploy to enter the EU.
The asylum seeker, reportedly from the West African nation of Guinea, was found hidden beneath the bonnet of the car as it crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta – one of two North African territories owned by Madrid.
He was discovered by Guardia Civil border police, squeezed behind the engine block and radiator, lying in a foetal position.
He was reportedly in a bad state of health as a result of the baking temperatures and petrol fumes.
A second migrant, also from Guinea, was found hidden inside a tiny space behind one of the seats inside the car.
They were identified only by their initials, T.D and A.B.
Spanish police became suspicious after noticing that the driver of the car, who was not identified, appeared nervous.
The driver was arrested. The two migrants were taken to a local hospital suffering from cramp and dehydration. Doctors said they could have died had they been inside the confined spaces much longer.
The case recalled that of a young boy who in May was found hidden inside a suitcase in an attempt to enter Ceuta from Morocco.
The eight-year-old boy from Ivory Coast, named Abou, was discovered after the suitcase he was squeezed into was put through an X-ray scanner.
The suitcase was wheeled through the Tarajal pedestrian crossing on the frontier by a 19-year-old woman.
When police opened up the case, the boy peered up at them and said, in French: “My name is Abou.”
Police said the smuggling attempt was highly dangerous and that it “could have ended in tragedy.”
Spain’s border police caught more than 12,500 immigrants last year, most of them in Ceuta and Spain’s other North African enclave, Melilla.
Militant in Benue Submits 84 Guns To The State Govt
"Agwaza’s action was sequel to a two-month deadline declared by the present administration which allowed possessors of illegal weapons in the state to surrender them to the government.
