A former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, has been
arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over
arms procurement deals during the last administration.
Yuguda was reportedly arrested alongside other top officials from the
office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
According to Premium Times, Yuguda was arrested Monday afternoon and was interrogated by detectives.
The report stated a huge amount of money was traced to Yuguda’s account from funds meant for arms procurement.
A source was quoted to have said: “The funds were directly
transferred to him from the NSA office and he has been unable to explain
the rationale for the transfer.”
“The transfers were made to his account between December 2014 and May
2015. The suspects are being grilled by crack detectives and may not be
allowed to go home soon.”
