Supreme Court upholds Emmanuel Udom’s election as Akwa Ibom governor

The Supreme court has upheld the election of Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state.

The court delivered its ruling late on Wednesday, stating that Governor Emmanuel won the lawfully cast votes- in the process, setting aside the earlier ruling of the two lower courts.

The Court also upheld Governor Emmanuel’s Appeal challenging the cancellation of the results of the elections held in 13 local governments.

The appeal of the Independent National Electoral Commission, challenging the cancellation of elections in some local government areas, was also upheld.

The court further ruled that its reasons for the verdict will be made known on February 15.
